Believe it or not, there is a right and a wrong way to sit in a chair. Many people have jobs that require them to sit in a chair for most of their work day. When done properly, we can reduce fatigue and soreness by properly setting up a chair to fit you. Here are the basiscs!

1. Adjust the height of your chair so your hips at a 90-120 degree angle.

2. Make sure the backs of your thighs make contact for the length of the seat.

3. straighten out your back. Your ear, top of your shoulder, and hips should be in a vertical line.

4. Your keyboard should be set where your elbows are at a 90-120 degree anlge.

5. Your monitor should be 18-24" away from you eyes, and a forward stare should point at the top 1/3 of the screen.

6. Keep your feet flat on the floor or on a foot block. don't tuck them under your chair!

7. Wrists should be in a neutral position and not flexed or extended.

8. Take breaks every 30 mintues. Taking a 20-30 second break to get up move around, using the restroom, or stretch will help you stay more focused and more productive on those long work days. Most people loose focus and are less productive when they are doing a task longer than 50 minutes at a time without taking a break.

This is just a basic list, but it will give you a great start to feeling better at work and when you get home!
